Hello everyone!
This is meant to be an informative post that discusses our stance on flashing or rapid movement gifs and why they are not allowed.

To start,
What is 'rapid movement' and why is it bad?
A rapidly moving / flashing GIF or image is an image that... well, moves very fast or flashes a series of differing colors.
The reason we do not allow such images is because they can cause several medical problems from someone who is not expecting to see an image like this, or is prone to medical conditions that result in several negative health effects as a direct result of seeing the rapid movement / flashing images.
http://www.epilepsy.com/learn/triggers- ... d-seizures is a good example (and a good article) explaining what these negative health effects can be, and what could possibly trigger them. If you are confused about what might trigger someone, this website has a good list of verbal examples - and if you need visual confirmation, an admin would surely be more than willing to look over an image and help you decide if it is over the top or could be a danger to another member of this community.

How do I report someone if I see it?
If you see an image that you think may trigger a medically related health issue, please report it to an admin.
Not all images will be taken down if they are considered not to be a risk, but if they are seen as a risk they will be taken down as soon as possible. The FAQ was updated to reflect the serious effects these flashing images can have. In addition to reporting these images, as the FAQ states, we also urge users to utilize browser addons to avoid any images that may slip by.

As stated in our FAQ, seen here: http://wolfhome.com/faq/rules.php#16
16.) Inappropriate URLs
[...] We ask anyone who uses these facilities, even if it is simply posting a picture in chat, to take into consideration those with epilepsy and refrain from using or posting flash gifs or images. If you have such images in your public profile, you may be asked to remove them or to put a warning/spoiler if appropriate. As a safety precaution, we urge anyone with epilepsy to be prepared that they may come across content which might trigger a seizure. Browser addons should be used when possible to reduce risk of suffering an unexpected seizure due to a user's profile, forum post, or chat link. We cannot control 100% what users post and you may beat us to seeing an image, therefore, your safety should be a priority and such addons should be installed. If you see something which you feel may trigger epilepsy, please report it to an administrator. Typically images which "flash" more than three times a second and have changing colors, certain optical illusions and patterns can trigger epilepsy. Not all images will be taken down if they are considered to not be a risk, but those which are deemed to be will be removed as soon as possible.

We reserve the right to judge instances where inappropriate content is linked in public or private rooms on a case-by-case basis.
Please keep this rule in mind when putting flashing gif images in your avatar and signature (or elsewhere on this website).
This includes both Wolfhome chat, and Wolfhome forum.

Thank you for your time and understanding,
The Wolfhome Administrative Team
