Gonna share this before this closes!! Tried a new crock pot recipe and oh man sooooooo good :D My only suggestion is to mix the spices and bbq in a bowl then pour. There was a "hot spot" from the cayenne pepper from sprinkling so not doing that next time.

Slow Cooker Root Beer Chicken
https://www.themagicalslowcooker.com/sl ... r-chicken/

Ingredients:
2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken thighs well trimmed of fat
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. onion powder
1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce I use Sweet Baby Rays Original
12 oz. can Root Beer I use A & W
1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper

Instructions:
Add the chicken to the slow cooker.
Sprinkle over the oregano, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne over the chicken
Pour over the barbecue sauce,
Pour over the root beer.
Cover and cook on low for 7 hours.
Shred chicken with 2 forks and serve over buns or rice.

> OK! ~
Signing-up basically at the last second! :)

> My Nana used to make this bread a lot, and she shared some recipes she's used online for it,,
she also shared with me some of her 'home-recipe' notes she's added to it! ~

Artisan Rosemary Bread:

> Recipe: https://cafedelites.com/artisan-bread-recipe/

Ingredients:
> 3 cups Flour (All-purpose or Bread)
> 1 tablespoon of Sugar
> 2 teaspoons Yeast (Dried, Instant or Rapid)
> 1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
> 1 1/2 cups Warm Water
> 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
> Italian Seasoning Spice & Rosemary

Instructions:
  • Combine flour, sugar, yeast and salt in a large bowl.
Add water and oil, mixing to incorporate all of the ingredients together.
Dough will be wet, sticky and shaggy.
  • Lightly spray the top with cooking oil spray.
Cover with plastic wrap and place a dry tea towel over the top.
  • Leave in a warm, draft-free place for 2-3 hours, until doubled in size.
(NOTE: My nana says it's better to begin step 1 and 2 the day before, and let it rest overnight!)
Dough will have a lot of little holes or bubbles and be wobbly like jelly.
  • Place a large (10-inch or 26cm) dutch oven or heavy based pot or anything Oven-safe that can go in the oven with a lid.
Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C),, 30 minutes before baking.
  • Lightly flour work surface and plastic spatula with up to 1 tablespoon flour.
Scrape dough out of bowl onto work surface with spatula.
Sprinkle the top of dough with a large pinch of flour and fold it over on itself with the spatula (about 5-6 folds). Roughly form a round shape.
  • Measure out a large piece of parchment paper, large enough to transfer the dough into the pot/oven-safe.
Place paper next to the dough and roll dough onto the paper, smooth side up.
Carefully move it to the centre of the paper and reshape if needed, or shake pan a couple of times to evenly distribute dough. (It will even out while baking.)
  • Loosely cover with plastic wrap and let rest while oven is preheating.
  • Use oven mitts to carefully remove from oven. Grab the parchment paper from each end to pick up the dough and transfer it into the pot.
Cover with lid and bake for 30 minutes, then remove lid and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes, until loaf is beautifully golden browned.
  • Transfer to a wire rack to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
- (c) Directions from the cafedelites website.-

> Notes From Spelly's Nana:
  • Let the bread rest over night or at the minimum 12 hours, rather than 2-3 hours.
  • To get the Rosemary bread, throw both Italian Seasoning & Rosemary on-top of the bread before you bake.
  • You don't need to use a cast iron, just use anything oven-safe that can bake bread
  • After you let the dough rise, put parchment paper in the dish or pan you are sizing the dough in,
that way once you want to transfer the dough to the pan you can with the parchments paper.
  • And lastly, you can have some flops, but don't give up!~
Hope this isn't too much! <3 <3 So excited to join this!~

Thank you everyone for signing up and sharing your delicious recipes! We are now ready to move to the next stage of this event. Please look through all of the recipes and select one (that is not your own) to cook!

Comment here to claim one so everyone will know which recipes are still available. They are “first come, first served,” but if you for any reason can’t make one that is left, feel free to PM me or Cider and I will ensure that you get one that is suitable to your needs.

Finally, if you missed the signup period, that’s okay! We will allow late signups as well. Make sure to post a recipe and also claim which one you’d like to cook.

Happy cooking!

Here is my Fall Food's...
I made the
Slow Cooker Root Beer Chicken...!
Which was the recipe shared by Avani.

Image
(made a lil' collage with the photos of what I made!~)

Overall:
I have never made any dish with soda involved, so this was a first for me!~
I used A&W root beer, as Avani suggested. And used rice & stuffed mushrooms as side dishes!~
It was honestly better than I expected, I had originally chosen this as I have a slow-cooker, and adore using it. And favor Chicken dishes over any meat option.
And I'm really glad I did! It got me to experiment with ingredients, and also got me to push out of my cooking comfort zone.

I honestly, think I'd make it again :) Thankyou again, Cider; for hosting such a lovely Fall Food Favorites Event!~

And here is a single image of the dish, for simplicity (if needed!~):

Here are my Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies, made using birdie’s recipe!

They were very easy to make, and came together well! I was a little surprised because I was expecting them to be kind of flat like other cookies I have made, but they actually maintained their shape and were pillowy and soft. They smelled lovely while I was making them and taste even better. They’re the perfect level of sweetness with the chocolate chips adding some decadence. I thought about adding pecans, but my wife doesn’t like them too much and I wanted her to enjoy them as well, if I made them for someone else though I think the nuts would have been a lovely addition. Overall, I really liked this recipe. It wasn’t something like would have tried otherwise, and I’m glad I did!

I wanted to see if anyone else who signed up is planning to cook something for this event. If not, it’s okay, but I’d like to know what to expect. Thanks!

I went ahead and pulled a Wild Card here. I got some very picky kids so had to do it >.>

I ended up making Slow Cooker Lemon Pepper Chicken Thighs for Fall Food Favorites. Cant go wrong with a Slow Cooker Recipe this time of year.

The only thing I did not do was broil them for a few minutes. Though I do love broiling certain foods. But the kids are not a fan of it unfortunately. We'll get the "its burnt" comments since its browned and the garlic will blacken.

I really did enjoy this recipe and will do this again. Maybe next time I'll broil it and have the kids deal with it. They take the skin off anyway. I enjoy the skin either way, since its super flavorful. Meat is tasty and moist, and falls right off the bone.

Thank you Cider for hosting this Event!

Here is a finished picture of our meal; we had Chicken Rice and Canned Peaches with it:
