OK new thread! since i have a lot of commissions on my plate right now, i want to have something else to kind of break them up so i can stay loose. doing resource work helps me stay focused and while i'm helping other people, i find i'm helping myself a lot too :] so i hope this goes over well~

This will be similar to my old tutorial topic (please don't bump that old topic- use this one!). You can request simple tutorials or tips for anything you need advice with-- poses, anatomy, characters, etc etc.
I will offer help for Wolfhome-related art as well as more general things... sketching, anatomy, Photoshop etc. (please don't ask for tips for other art programs like gimp/sai/whatever cuz I really only know Photoshop and won't be very helpful haha)
And........ please do not ask me for a fur tutorial. I have several on my dA ;]
Also try to be as specific as possible! Saying like "I need help with coloring" is way too vague for me to work with, try to pin-point something in particular that interests you. Feel free to use examples from existing artwork if it is difficult to explain.

alright lets do it :D

If I look at real photos of wolves or animals, all I see is fur.
I need sketchy things that show how to know what you're doing exactly.

Study the skeletons. If you want to draw something, leaning on someone elses (albeit amazing and talented) is not the way to do it. I'm trying to help here, but any art teacher will tell you, It's okay to copy another artist, but ultimately learn your own way, that's the only way to be comfortable with your subjects. I have the hardest time with paws. No matter how many pictures or references I look at they always look funny.
I know there are plenty of paw tutorials out there and I've tried plenty but still something always looks messed up.

Oh and wings if possible. I can get the basic shape but when it comes to feather placement I fail

sometimes people ask for anatomy because it's helpful to see a breakdown of it from an experienced artist. You sort of get to have a look inside their head, and see how they see a wolf when stripped of it's fur, muscles and everything else. if that makes sense

I'd definately like to see some stuff to do with paws. Also facial stuff, where the ears attach, where the eyes should be, etc. Muzzle/nose/mouth at the moment is giving me trouble.

Also with the faces, perhaps differences between say, smaller more angular canines with larger, bulkier canines. EG Where the cheek *is* and where the fluffy fur makes it look like it is. Lmao.

Lighting most definitely.

Especially with stark colors, heavy shadows. etc. I can't really be very specific besides those are the things that I see in a lot of your recent work with all those icons on DA that you did.

How about your simplistic yet detailed backgrounds you do for those same very icons? Or/and how you use your filters and textures?
