So I've been looking pretty much everywhere to resolve this issue, I'm currently having issues with editing my topic(commissions topic) and I keep getting "SQL Error" which looks like this:X
I've pretty much tried deleting everything I thought was an issue(Ex: the images and emojis) and I've gotten pretty much nowhere. I've been having this issue since yesterday and I'm not sure why.
Here is my topic in case you want to review it to see if I missed anything.

Unfortunately that’s due to the emojis in your OP. Once emojis are in the post, it can’t be edited.
That’s an ongoing issue with phpBB forums if I remember correctly.
There’s no known fix for it at this time so your post will remain un-editable.

Ah, that's unfortunate. Should I lock the topic and re create a new one?

It is ):
If you’d like you can! I can lock the topic for you.
I’d recommend just quoting everything and just remove the emojis.
Sorry for the inconvenience! ):

There is a fix for this but it's more of a database issue: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... #p13693316 the SQL for the forum would need to have its collation altered to the version that supports 4bit characters for emojis.

I believe the forum would also need to be updated to the latest version of phpbb as there's better support for emojis and the MYSQL changes in later versions. Not sure what the forum is currently on. The latest version 3.2.7 supports old layouts so the forum layout shouldn't (in theory) need any updating.

The PHP version of the forum is the most up to date! As for the MySQL database, I believe it's something that UD will need to update, but I can dig further into that. Hopefully we can finally fix the problem :)

Just for clarification, it's not just emojis. You can use emojis as long as you are using the CODE for it. For example:

Code: Select all

would work fine for editing. However, it's when you INSERT an emoji using a mobile device or emoji keyboard. I hope this helps!!

Ah awesome it would just be updating the schema and MYSQL versions which would be required! If the host supports or has automatically installed MYSQL (not sure how UD hosts his DBs!) then it could be fairly straight forward or a bit of a nightmare <_>.
